Daniel Johnston shines in Revelations Book II, new vinyl release by Ron English. The Daniel Johnston track called "Tomorrow's Child" is the one of the best songs Daniel has played and recorded. Where has this music been hiding? The collection of songs is fascinating to listen how an eclectic artist roster as diverse as Daniel Johnston, Patti Rothberg, Railrod Jerk, Wammo, and Emilio China has pulled individial songs together that hold well with lyrics from Ron English. The immediate similiarity that comes to mind is Andy Warhol and the Velvet Underground but Ron English has taken it to another level with a storyline that brings a prophet making hit records and then smashes his materialistic career for the betterment of man! Revelations Book II is conceptually dense on many levels- music, lyrics, artwork and ambitious concept. Overall this album is a strong effort giving multi-dimensional listening material in various harmony and vocal styles.
It is rare for indie recordings to get royal treatment in the mastering process which is critical for vinyl to sound right and this album has been mastered by one of the best in the music industry, Andy VanDette at Masterdisk.
